Tuition fees

Proposal checklist & guidance.

Title: Dominic Brewer journalistic proposal.

Role: National correspondent.

The 2011 anti-cuts protest in London/ March for the Alternative

Who: Thousands of people all over England have rallied up in anger against the constant cuts of the coalition-government that’s ruled over by David Cameron and Nick clegg.
Why:  Many of these cuts wont allow people the chance to go to university because the price has been put up so high, also many of the cut involve the “letting go” of thousands of people who have slaved away to get where they are now just to be fired because the government decided that your place of work will get 30% less money so your boss can afford to employ you and has no other way to work around it unless they fire you
What: In November 2010 hundreds of people all around England went on protests against the government cuts over tuition fees, counsel funding, benefits, disability benefits and many, many more.
When:  A lot of the protests happened in November and December last year but many are continuing to happen this year, the 25th to the 27th of march this year saw one if the biggest protests in the history of England,
Where: Recently the main protests have happened in city centres; one happened in London on the 25th of March 2011, many have happened in Bristol centre as well.

Justification of choice: The reason I chose this topic was that I new it would eventually affect me as I grow up, and it affects young and old people with new jobs people with old jobs, people with families wont be able to look after there children if they lose there job and the children might be sent into care.

Also I know that people who don’t go to university don’t often get good jobs because if you go to a job interview and another person who’s after the same job as you went to university its most likely that they will be picked over you, this wouldn’t of happened if you got the chance to go to university and get a degree but because of the cuts this might just happen to you.

I know a few people who had dreams of becoming a professor, astronaut a journalist but because of the cuts they wont get the chance, they have the brains and the knowledge but they don’t have the money so they wont ever to get to full-fill there life long dream just because the government went back on its promises and destroyed many young peoples hopes and dreams.

Outline of content:
This article is about the new cuts put in place by the new coalition Government and how I think there affecting people especially the tuition fees cuts, the tuition fees has given the universities all over England the chance to chose how much to charge students for their  time learning and getting their degrees.
